Henan Medicine School is located in—Kaifeng, a famous ancient capital of eight dynasties at the hinterland of central China. The predecessor of the Medical School was the Nurse School of Kaifeng Inland Mission Gospel Hospital, founded in 1929. After several times of name change, it developed into Kaifeng Medical College at the end of the last century. In 2000, the College merged with Henan University and Kaifeng Normal College into a new Henan University.
School of Basic Medicine Science is a key construction college as well as one of the colleges with leading comprehensive strength and great social influence in Henan University. In 2001, the three schools merged to form a medical school. In October 2016, Henan University established the medical school (Department) and renamed it to Basic Medical School.
There are now 134 faculty members and 107 full-time teachers in the School of Basic Medicine , including 26 professors and 67 associate professors, accounting for 86.9%; 70 with doctor degree, accounting for 65.4%. There are 2 double-employed academicians. 2 Visiting professors as “Thousand Talents Program”members. 2 scholars under National “hundreds, thousands, dozens of thousands Talents Project”. 3 experts who received the special government allowance. 1 Central Plains scholar, 4 Distinguished professors under “Special Administrative Region Supporting Plan for Outstanding Talents”, 4 Distinguished professors of Henan Province,5 Distinguished Professors as Yellow River scholar, 1 Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Talent, 3 Provincial Teaching Pacesetters and 3 Teaching Masters.
The college has 15 teaching and research sections and 3 comprehensive teaching laboratories，which provides basic medical courses for undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine and dental medicine. There are one Provincial, Experimental and Teaching Center for biomedical research , one Provincial ,Experimental and Teaching Centers for Medical Virtual Simulation and one Provincial Bilingual Normal Curriculum.
The college has a provincial key discipline of Basic Medicine , one accredited second-class discipline with doctoral degree in Immunological Biology and two accredited first-class disciplines with master's degree in Basic Medicine and Clinical medicine. There are 1 national-level laboratory: Henan and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Antibody Drug Development Technology ; 5 province-level laboratories: Henan Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Antibody Drugs, International Joint Laboratory for Antibody Drugs of Henan Province, Natural Medicine and Immune Engineering Laboratory, International Joint Laboratory for Nucleoprotein Gene Regulation of Henan Province; Henan Engineering Technology Research Cancer for Molecular Diagnosis and Precision Therapy of Tumors; 1 departmental-level laboratory: Henan Key Laboratory for Cellular and Molecular Immunology; 2 School-level Scientific Research Laboratories : Cell Signal Transduction Laboratory, Receptor Gene Regulation and Drug Development Laboratory; 3 research institutions , 3 Provincial Scientific and Technological Innovation teams, and 2 Outstanding Academic Groups in Henan University.
The college has taken charge of many scientific research projects , including 2 sub-projects of National"863 Plan" , 1 State project for essential drug research and development, 49 projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and 200 various projects such as Outstanding Talents ,Scholarship of Henan Province.. The school has published 876 research papers, with 201 papers cited by SCI. The college has obtained 10 national invention patents，published 92 textbooks and received 127 provincial-level awards for scientific research and papers..
At present, there are more than 1,250 undergraduate students and more than 160 academic postgraduates. In recent years, the admission rate of master programs for undergraduates has remained above 60%, ranking the first in the whole university for the eighth consecutive year. More than 80% graduate students published SCI papers with a maximum impact factor of 12.
Aiming to cultivate first-class students, the college has concentrated on teaching, strengthened moral education, and insisted on the professionalization of brand activities for years. Many brand activities have been created, such as Health Culture Festival, First Aid Culture Festival, Red Cross Rescuer Training, and Anatomy Knowledge Contest. The Taiji culture of "Sincere union, ultimate pursuit" has been formed. These events have largely enriched extracurricular activities for students. The college encourages students to take an active part in Undergraduate Innovative Experiment Projects to cultivate research spirit and innovation ability. Over more than 10 years of hard work, the School of Basic Medicine has formed a teaching style of rich knowledge and earnest carefulness, a learning style of enjoying study and nice thinking, and an examining style of honest integrity and strict discipline.
With endless songs and sonorous steps, the great achievement shines after suffering in the years. We will make all efforts to build the School of Basic Medicine into a nationally-known and locally-leading research college.
河南大学医学院坐落于中原腹地、八朝古都--开封市。学院前身是始建于1929年的开封市内地会福音医院护士学校，经过多次更名变迁，于上世纪末发展成为开封医学高等专科学校。2000年与河南大学和开封师范高等专科学校合并为新的河南大学。基础医学院是河南大学重点建设学院，也是综合实力领先、社会影响较大的学院之一。2001年三校合并成立医学院，2016年10月河南大学成立医学院（部），更名为基础医学院。
学院现有教职工134人，107名专任教师中，有教授26人，副教授67人，占86.9%；具有博士以上学历70人，占65.4%。有双聘院士2人，兼职国家千人计划专家2人，百千万人才工程2人，享受政府津贴专家3人，中原学者1人，杰出人才特区支持计划特聘教授4人，河南省特聘教授2人，黄河学者5人，省科技创新人才1人，省教学系统标兵3人，教学名师3人。
学院有教研室15个，综合教学实验室3个。有临床医学、口腔医学2个本科专业。有省级基础医学实验教学中心、省级医学虚拟仿真实验教学中心、省级双语师范课程各1个。
现有基础医学省级重点学科；免疫生物学二级博士学位授权点，基础医学和临床医学一级学科硕士学位授权点。有国家级实验室1个：抗体药物开发技术国家地方联合工程实验室；省级实验室5个：抗体药物河南省工程实验室、河南省抗体药物国际联合实验室、天然药物与免疫工程实验室、河南省核蛋白基因调控国际联合实验室；河南省肿瘤分子诊断与精准治疗工程技术研究中心；地厅级实验室1个：河南省细胞与分子免疫重点实验室；校级科研实验室2个：细胞信号转导实验室、受体基因调控与药物研发实验室；研究所3个，省级科技创新型团队3个，校级优秀学术群体2个。
主持完成和在研：国家“863”计划子课题2项，国家重大新药创制1项，国家自然科学基金49项；河南省杰出人才创新基金等各类课题200项。发表学术论文876篇，其中SCI收录201篇。获国家发明专利10项，出版专著、教材92部。获省级科研及论文奖励127项。
目前在校本科生1250余人，学术性硕士研究生160余人。近年来，学院本科生考研率保持在60%以上，连续8年全校第一。80%以上研究生发表SCI论文，最高影响因子达12分。
