Glory for the School of Basic Medical Science----Our Student Cui Tianyi Won the First Prize of the 14th English Speech Competition of Henan University

The 14th English Speech Competition of Henan University(non-professional group)finals were held in the lecture hall of the College of Computer Science of Henan University from May 23, 2018 to 25th. Cui Tianyi, a freshman from the School of Basic Medical Science, won the first prize (non-professional group) and the best-popular-contestant award in the English speech competition.

During the competition, our student Cui Tianyi gave us an outstanding performance, which was a combinations of confident attitude, inspiring words and fluent explanation. In the part of “Question from the Dean”, his precise answer to the question “What are the six walls of the tympanic wall? " highlighted his profound medical knowledge. And the clear answers to the judges ' questions also reflected his unique charm as a medical student. As the only player of medical major, Cui Tianyi’s excellent speech and charming presence won a good score 91.60 from the judges.

The English Culture Festival of Henan University is always a feature of our school, which includes the National English Competition for College Students, English speech Competition, English Writing Competition and English MOOCCompetition and a series of English competitions, attracting thousands of students’ active participation. As one of the most important activities of the English Cultural Festival, the finals of English speech Competition, a fantastic show which had selected 30 excellent contestants from all academies of Henan University, won many concerns of our teachers and students.

Intense but fun, great-scale but well-organized, this year’s competition is a mixture of speech contest and talent show. Moreover, the awards won by our students also manifests the great significance we attached to the English educating work, and our creative combination of the English study and the medical education, which highlights our achievements in the “second class” education practice.
