Recently, the Henan University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program project defense activity was successfully completed, and the national project guided by the basic medical school Ji Xin teacher: “Comparison of four dyeing methods for leukemia cell blood smear” (No. 201610475092) in the final review Excellent in the middle. The project was led by Li Wenzhe, an undergraduate student of the 2015 Department of Medicine, and Wang Lintao, Xue Ruibing, Sun Wei and Zhang Yuwei participated in the research.
It is reported that leukemia is one of the most common malignant tumors in China. The production of clear-form leukemia blood smear specimens is of great significance for clinical diagnosis and pathology teaching. Due to the excessive amount of immature white blood cells in the blood of leukemia patients, the actual staining effect is not ideal, which affects the pathological classification and diagnosis.
The team tried to apply different dyeing methods to solve this problem. After a year and a half of continuous trials and explorations, it was finally found that Wright's-Giemsa's joint step dyeing method was the best. The relevant research results were published in the 4th issue of 2017, Journal of Henan University, Medical Edition. Students used the holidays and spare time to produce a large number of blood smear specimens of leukemia, improving the quality of specimens for pathology. Teaching research has saved costs and improved the teaching effect of relevant experimental projects.
In recent years, the School of Basic Medicine of Henan University attaches great importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability and innovation consciousness of the students.
