In order to further enhance college students' awareness of first aid, popularize first aid knowledge and improve first aid ability, the opening ceremony of the Third Red Cross Emergency Rescue Knowledge and Skills Culture Festival of Henan University was held by the School of Medical Sciences, Red Cross of Kaifeng and 120 First Aid Command Center in the Marco Square ,JinMing campus in the morning of May 13th. Zhang Jianxin, Secretary General of the Red Cross of Kaifeng, Chen Zhongxia, chief of Information Management Department of the 120 First Aid And Command Center of Kaifeng, and Zhai Xinli, the Secretary of the School League Committee, Ji Xinying and Nan Han, vice dean of the School of Medical Sciences, attended the opening ceremony, and more than 400 students from the School of Medical Sciences participated in the event.

The opening ceremony was started in the drum performance of the antique and ancient rhymes. The martial arts performance and the "grateful heart" sign language dance won the applause of the audience. The wonderful combination of the crosstalk and CPR show helped us learn the first aid skills easily. In his speech, Secretary Zhai Xinli stressed that this activity was of great significance, hoping that young students could set up a sense of social responsibility, strengthen the importance of learning first aid knowledge and skills, and contribute to saving life. In his speech, vice dean Ji Xinying pointed out that this event highlighted the sense of social responsibility and the sense of mission of Henan University. Based on the professional advantages, the School of Medical Sciences should rely on the Medical Research Association as the practitioner and disseminators of first aid knowledge. Finally, the Secretary General of the Red Cross Zhang Jianxin delivered an important speech, and announced the Third Red Cross Emergency Rescue Knowledge , Skills and Culture Festival opened officially.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders and teachers came to the booths for inspection and detailed inquiry and learning. The First Aid Culture Festival had ten booths, including wound dressing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, salvage of airway foreign body obstruction and other booth. Each booth had personnel specially responsible for explaining and training and the students understood the knowledge of first aid and memorized the operation steps through on-site teaching and field practice. When it came to the CPR booth, the vice dean Nan Han carried out on-site learning and operation with dummy and the participants in the booth were in a continuous stream. This activity has been actively responded to and supported by the teachers and students of the whole university. The awareness of first aid was enhanced and more people are willing to participate in the emergency rescue and escort for the health of the society and the citizens.

The Cultural Festival of Emergency and Rescue Knowledge Skills is a brand activity in our university. This activity is carried out by the Committee of the School of Medical Sciences. It aims at promoting, advocating and calling for more students to take part in the learning and skill training of first aid knowledge with the support of the college's professional characteristics. Grab gold four minutes, save the patients’ lives. In the future work, the School of Medical Sciences is bound to become more active in the popularization of first aid knowledge and skills and contributes to the "Health China strategy" of 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China
