My Class Teacher Yang Yongjie

“No meeting yet, but reputation spreads”. This is the first impression that Mr. Yang Yongjie left for me. The moment we just managed to get through the conundrum of Tissue Culture Cell Biology with great difficulty during the freshman year, we met many senior schoolmates who shared their experiences in learning with great enthusiasm with us. I still cannot forget the line remarked by them in great earnest that “Physiology or Biochemistry, at least one you must fail”. Bearing this in mind, I continue to study as a sophomore, haunted by a feeling of fear now and then. Before the formal start of the class, I was pulled into a mysterious organization, i.e. the Physiology class group. That came as a sudden shock in my heart, which made me wonder whether Physiology is as horrible as described by the senior schoolmates. For a moment, I feel kind of hopelessness and despair towards this semester.

When recalling Mr. Yang's first lesson, I still can't help laughing at myself at that time. Obviously, I went to class in a heavy state of mind that day, being in the mood of meeting the "mysterious group leader" with a mixed feeling of nervousness and excitement. However, it turns out that Mr. Yang is of a good sense of humor, with an interesting soul hidden in a regular and ordinary figure. Staring at the teacher for a few moments, you will clearly feel his charm, being so distinctive and unique. Every time I am present in Mr. Yang's class, I would raise my nose and take a deep breath, as if all the laziness that has been suppressed for a long time will disappear in the face of his existence.

The ancient famous quotations of teaching and educating states: “Teachers are destined to transmit wisdom, impart knowledge, and resolve doubts”, and all these good qualities are showed completely in Mr. Yang’s class. At the first meeting, Mr. Yang took the responsibility of Occupation Play Dummy, who said with absolute certainty, “My dear fellow students, I am sure you all have heard about all kinds of rumors before coming to the physiology class. Please do not believe in such nonsense. Today, I can assure you that as long as you spare no efforts in learning Physiology and Biochemistry, you won’t fail any of them…”All of a sudden, thunderous applauses echoed in the classroom. I was sure that a number of students were attracted by his words just like me, and the stone that had been hung for a long time was finally settled.

In my mind, Mr. Yang is different from other teachers. All the boring and complicated medical knowledge became vivid and interesting in his class. Even the under-motivated sleepyheads became energetic and tried to cherish each class given by Mr. Yang. Our teacher was always full of passion. During the first ten minutes of each morning class, he would display nervous and exciting Physiology exercises with PPT. Those were not compulsory exercises, but we were all willing to get up early to do the exercises with pleasure. We love Mr. Yang's class in the bottom of our hearts and we would be more respectful to call him Head-teacher than just Mr. Yang. He could be said to be the most responsible "group leader", who gave the students the greatest care and help in all aspects like a head-teacher in senior high school. No matter what questions we had, as long as we sent it to the group and notified Mr. Yang, we could surely get answers to the puzzles. Even when in the exhausting preparation week before the exam, he still worked together with us, providing suggestions and encouragement.

Thanks to Mr. Yang, I gradually get rid of the conflicted moods, and have become interested in knowledge in textbooks. Whenever I feel bored and fed up with learning, I will think of what Mr. Yang once said, “When I was a college student, we did not have such a good living condition like you. When you are bored, you can play computer games to relieve your boredom, while when we were at university, the happiest thing we could do every day was to devote oneself to medical books and delve into the knowledge points in the textbook. When we felt bored, we would play basketballs for a moment and then resume the study in the dormitory… “. As a former “salted fish”, I am deeply moved by Mr. Yang’s tireless pursuit and extremely hard efforts of learning. I hope to study well like Mr. Yang, and make progresses in the field of medicine science shoulder by shoulder with him.
