On the afternoon of July 28, 2018, Professor Wang Xiaomin of Capital Medical University and Dr. Liu Hongbo, Technical Director ofPrecision cloud Genetics Research Institutewere invited to the recording studio on the sixth floor of the School of Medical Sciences of Henan University to makeacademic reports on “ cogitation ofChina Brain Project and Research strategy for major brain diseases” and “Application of modern precision breeding technology in medical related fields”. Experts, young teachers and student representatives fromthe School of Medical Sciences,School of Life Science and Huaihe Hospital attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Professor Ji Xinying, vice dean ofthe School of Medical Sciences.
In the report, Professor Wang Xiaomin gave a lecture on the strategic cogitation ofChina Brain Project and Research strategy for major brain diseases. He stressed that we should proceed from the national strategic needs, focuse on the diagnosis and treatment of major brain disorder diseases which associated with cognitive impairment, Brain development in children and adolescents and Brain like computing and brain machine intelligence development these three aspects. At present, the task of brain disease research is to solve the important scientific and technical problems in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of brain diseases. Professor Wang concretized the problem and elaborated the main scientific problems and key technology challenge in different brain diseases such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, brain tumors, epilepsy and so on.Finally, Professor Wang pointed out that functional brain disease is a major social and scientific problem, which require researchers to explore continuously ,identify new drug targets in constant practice and look for nerve protection candidate drugs. He also stressed that the new neural network regulation technology is a major demand, triggering the thinking of teachers and students at the meeting.
In humorous language, Dr. Liu Hongbo expounded theModern precision breeding technologyin medical related fields such as using the cell bank and somatic cell cloning technology to construct the valuableSwine blood bioreactor, Bladder bioreactor, mammary gland bioreactor, Human disease model, Xenotransplantation model and Chimera modelswinery, which combined with the needs of biomedical enterprises and research institutes. These vivid examples let the teachers and students understand the importance of modern precision breeding technology.
Professor Wang Xiaomin and Dr Liu Hongbo's reports fully reflected the rigorous attitude in scientific research and the spirit of seeking truth from facts , which brought great inspiration to the students on the spot. After the meeting, teachers and students participated in the heated discussions with the two experts on relevant issues. Finally, the report concluded with warm applause.
