At 3.30 PM, July 6th 2018, professor Cheng Jun from Beijing Ditan Hospital，the Affiliated Hospital of Capital Medical University was invited to the School of Medical Science of Henan University to have a report about the New gene HCBP6 and Liver steatosis. The report was held in the recorded room on the sixth floor, hosted by the deputy dean of the School of Medical Science, professor Ji Xinying. Experts from Huaihe Hospital and teachers and students form the academy participated in the report.

During the report, professor Cheng gave out systematically expatiates on his scientific research, which includes the initial research direction to find the new gene of HCBP6 and full explanation of the biological function of this gene. Twenty years of consistent work has brought him a great deal of scientific research. The whole work started from large-scale genetic screening. With the interaction between HCV virus and hepatocytes as the major research target, HCBP6 gene was finally determined as the research object to study its biological function and its important regulatory role in human lipid metabolism, and then the research scope was further expanded to study its regulation of glucose metabolism and autophagy. In the research, by using high-fat diet to establish a mouse hepatitis model, and establishing HCBPb(-/-) gene knockout mice to verify the role of genes in the regulation pathway, a series of molecular biology techniques are applied skillfully, while professor Cheng has also completed a series of monographs such as "molecular biology of hepatitis"

Professor Cheng shared the fun of his scientific research work, and the report fully embodied the rigorous attitude and realistic spirit of exploration in scientific research, which brought great inspiration to the students on the scene. In the report, professor Cheng’s research content is combined with the undergraduate basic subject of “grounding”, which makes the whole report easy to understand and lofty. Cheng Jun, vice-dean, doctor, professor, chief physician, doctoral supervisor of Beijing Ditan Hospital affiliated to capital medical university. He is also the director general of APALD, director general of Zhongguancun Tiancheng Translational Medical Science and Technology innovation research institute, chief scientist of Beijing Pan-Asia Tongze Biomedical Research Institution, eidtor-in-chief of Chinese journal of experimental and clinical infectious diseases and editor-in-chief of Chinese journal of liver diseases. He has engaged in clinical and basic research of infectious diseases for 32 years. At present, his main direction is infectious diseases, especially the clinical medical work of viral hepatitis and the pathogenesis of viral hepatitis. His professional expertise is the basic research of clinical antiviral therapy foe chronic viral hepatitis and molecular biological mechanism of viral hepatitis.
